On April 12, 2025, the Emergency Hospital in Semey hosted the “Atherosclerosis School” — an educational seminar for healthcare professionals focused on modern strategies for diagnosing and managing lipid metabolism disorders.
The event featured a well-structured program covering both the fundamental mechanisms of atherosclerosis and practical aspects of patient management. Participants received up-to-date insights on:
• diagnosing lipid disorders, including the role of LDL-C and lipoprotein(a);
• the impact of triglycerides on the development of atherosclerosis;
• the use of modern hypolipidemic therapies;
• strategies for cardiovascular risk stratification.
Particular interest was drawn to clinical case studies that demonstrated the application of targeted therapy in patients with severe dyslipoproteinemia and elevated Lp(a). The session concluded with a discussion of lipodystrophy as a rare but critical differential diagnosis in cases of hypertriglyceridemia.
The format of the event allowed participants to refresh their knowledge while actively engaging in discussions about real-world challenges faced in clinical practice.
Attendees noted the practical relevance of the content and the interactive atmosphere throughout the seminar.
